I got a co-wash and restorative conditioner from Shea Moisture and a leave in and curl custard from Kinky curly which both came highly recommended.
This first two weeks of being natural I learned my hair is dry. Like hella dry. After talking to a transitioning natural at work, I came to the conclusion I may be overloading on protein. I was even more happy to get home and realize the Shea Moisture line didn't have protein. During our convo, she mentioned how she does a honey and olive oil condition. I decided to do this as a pre- poo
SO... I mix 1/2 cup of honey with 1/4 Olive oil and heated for 12 secs in the microwave. Sectioned hair and applied. Now... Let me tell you that next time I will buy a bottle with a nozzle like when hair color is applied because applying with my hands was not the business. I was a sticky mess. Anyway... Wrapped with Saran warp.
( I can see imma need to stock up on Saran Wrap)
This next part...... WELL!!!! I decided to sit under my dryer for 15 minutes. Well....DON'T DO THAT!!!!! That damn honey was melting and dripping every damn where. If I wasn't sticky enough before... I was a hot ass sticky mess now. WTH was I thinking??? Due to the drip I realized why most people said to wrap with a towel. LOL!!!! So I had to make the necessary adjustment.
After about 20 mins I jumped in the shower with my Shea moisture cowash. Rinsed and put about 1/2 dollar amount of cowash in my hands.
Let me tell you... This stuff DID NOT SUD UP!!! Not even a tiny lather. I seriously wondered if my hair was being cleaning. Washed 3 times and on the second time... Somehow, my scalp was feeling damn good. Got my tee shirt and dryed my hair as well as my body( not with the tee shirt but a towel)
Not sure if it was the honey pre-poo or the cowash but HUNTYYYYYYY my hair had so much shine. I was floored... As I stood there messing through my hair... I was amazed.
Next up... Shea Moisture Restorative conditioner.
Okay.... Back to the bathroom.
Rinsed my ACV with cool water and began the final stage.
Applied the Kinky Curly leave in
conditioner.
At first thought after reading the ingredients. I wasn't sure bout this cause it had alcohol listed. I'm trying to keep moisture in. But since it was listed past the first five... I took my chances but only applied a 1/2 dollar size and rubbed on my hair not sectioned. We will come back to this one later.
Next up.... Curling custard. I was excited to see what this was about. So many good things were said that I could not wait.
This curl custard was reviewed as THA BUSINESS!!! And for the price ... It should. Did as instructed and applied on wet hair. WHEN I say it defined my curls.... WOW!!!! I could not believe how beautiful my natural curl were. This was me!!!! For the first time I saw I didn't have "bad hair" I had extremely curly hair that was beautiful... Short but beautiful.
Decided to do a wet Bantu knot out. The Bantu knot out respond to my hair very well. I learned bout the LOC ( liquid, Oil, Cream) method and decided to try it. My liquid was water, oil was a special mix I made and cream was the restorative conditioner. Sectioned hair, LOC each section and knoted them up.
Tied my hair down with a satin scarf till the morning.
NEXT DAY:
Woke up with the anticipation of a child at Christmas. Took a shower and began taking down my knots. I didn't add anything to my hands as I took them down. The shine was AMAZING!!!!!
( yup same shirt. Don't judge)
My knots had a nice hold.... Not super hard crunch but a slight firmness. Did my separation, picked the roots and fluffed. The curls we popping.... And the shine was awesome.
I'm happy... I HAVE A REGIMEN.
